Viele sind aufgrund ihrer Position distanziert von ihren Untertanen und handeln arrogant und unnahbar, während andere wahre Menschenfreunde und Helden des Volkes sind, die die Nöte des gemeinen Mannes kennen und ihn an ihrem Glück teilhaben lassen wollen. Das Aussehen und die Titel von Edelleuten variieren von Nation zu Nation – die Barone und Herzöge des einen Landes könnten den Pashas, Denkas oder Rittern des anderen entsprechen.

Ferner könnte er ein Treffen mit einem Edelmann[link28], einem Prinzen oder einer Prinzessin[link29] arrangieren.


Adelssprösslinge sind die stolzen und überheblichen Kinder adeliger Eltern, die voll von der Tatkraftder Jugend und des Hochmutes jener sind, die in prächtigen Herrenhäusern geboren wurden. Sie haben eine gute Erziehung genossen und kennen zumindest ein Minimum an sozialen Umgangsformen, meist aber nur wenn andere Hochgeborene anwesend sind. Sie verachten Bürgerliche und Vagabunden, welche dasselbe für diese eingebildeten Pfauen empfinden.


Wenn sie als geringere Würdenträger und Schmeichler des Hofes einsetzt werden, können Adelssprösslinge eine Quelle von Gerüchten und Hofintrigen sein. Sie können auch als erfahrene Knappen, die noch nicht zum Ritter geschlagen wurden, oder als adelige Kavalleristen eingesetzt werden.


Ein Adelsspross kann eine Vierergruppe Kavalleristen[link30] anführen (HG 9), zwei von ihnen könnten die ständigen Begleiter einer Prinzessin[link29] sein (HG 7), drei könnten das Gefolge eines Chevaliers[link31] bilden (HG 8), während acht Adelssprösslinge mit einem Edelmann[link28] als Gruppe von Wüstlingen auftreten könnte (HG 10).

Ein Edelmann ist ein Adeliger mit einem Titel. Er gehört einem Adelshaus an, das eine unbedeutende Nebenlinie oder die Hauptlinie des Hauses selbst sein kann. Er könnte sogar zur königlichen Familie gehören, dann aber wahrscheinlich nicht in der Thronfolge stehen, aber dennoch eine hohe Postion in der Gesellschaftbekleiden. Egal ob Baron, Graf, Herzog oder Markgraf, ein Edelmann beherrscht alle höfischen Künste – die feine Klinge eingeschlossen – und kennt die Neuigkeiten, Gerüchte, Modeerscheinungen und Etikette seines Landes und der Nachbarländer.


Edelleute können als Diplomaten, bedeutende Höflinge, Kastellane oder Seneschalle königlicher Burgen oder sogar Spione eingesetzt werden.


Ein Edelmann kann mit einem Chevalier[link31] als Leibwächter und drei Adelssprösslingen[link70], mit denen er bei Hofe angeben kann, angetroffen werden (HG 10). Ein Edelmann könnte auch zwei verkleidete Prinzessinnen[link29] begleiten (HG 10), während zwei Edelleute beim Konzert eines Meisterbarden[link71] zugegen sein könnten (HG 12). Ein Edelmann auf Reisen könnte von einem Kampfmagier[link72] oder Musikus[link73] (HG 9) oder von zwei Wachthauptmännern[link74] als Leibwächter (HG 10) begleitet werden.
