Einleitung

Jede Monsterbeschreibung auf den folgenden Seiten wird dir in dem gleichen Format präsentiert, welches in drei unterschiedliche Bereiche aufgeteilt ist: Einleitung, Spieltechnische Werte und Beschreibung.

Einleitung

Die Monster werden in alphabetischer Reihenfolge präsentiert. Im Falle einer Gruppe von Monstern, welche die gleichen Merkmale aufweisen (wie etwa externare Völker oder einige Tiere[link1] und Insekten), wird an erster Stelle die grundsätzliche Bezeichnung der Monsterart aufgeführt. Alle Angaben der spieltechnischen Werte eines Monsters enthalten dessen Namen, gefolgt von seinem Herausforderungsgrad.

Spieltechnische Werte

Hier findest du alle Informationen die du benötigst, um das Monster bei einer Begegnung einsetzen zu können. Die spieltechnischen Werte sind wie folgt gegliedert (beachte, dass in Fällen, in denen in einer Zeile ein Strich anstatt einer Angabe vorhanden ist, diese Zeile entfällt):

Name und HG: Als erstes wird der Name des Monstersaufgeführt, mitsamt des Herausforderungsgrades (HG), sowie drei Symbole, durch deren Hilfe dir eine schnelle Orientierung über die Rolle des Monsters im Spiel ermöglicht wird. Der Herausforderungsgrad ist eine Zahlenangabe, welche die Gefährlichkeit eines Monsters angibt ( je höher der Wert, desto tödlicher ist die Kreatur).

EP: An dieser Stelle sind die Erfahrungspunkte aufgeführt, die für das Besiegen des jeweiligen Monsters vergeben werden.

Volk, Klasse, Stufe: Einige Monster besitzen keine Volkstreffer würfel und sind stattdessen über ihre Klassenstufen definiert. Bei solchen Monstern sind an dieser Stelle ihr Volk, ihre Klasse und Stufen angegeben. Die an erster Stelle stehende Klasse ist auch gleichzeitig die bevorzugte Klasse[link2] des Monsters, sofern nichts anderes angegeben wird

Gesinnung, Größe und Art: Während Größe und Art eines Monsters für gewöhnlich gleichbleibend sind (es sei denn, sie wurden durch eine Schablone oder andere Modifikatoren verändert), ist seine Gesinnung eher veränderbar. Die in diesem Buch angegebenen Gesinnungen[link3] bei den Monstern repräsentieren nur seine Norm, die du jedoch in deiner Kampagne nach Belieben anpassen kannst. Nur im Falle ziemlich unintelligenter Monster (Kreaturen mit einem Intelligenzwert von 2 oder niedriger sind niemals etwas anderes außer neutral) sowie planarer Monster (Externare[link4] mit Gesinnungen[link3], die sich von der hier angegebenen unterscheiden, sind in der Regel ziemlich ungewöhnlich für ihre Art), ist die angegebene Gesinnung[link3] relativ feststehend.

INI und Sinne: An dieser Stelle ist der Initiativemodifikator, gefolgt von allen besonderen Sinnen sowie dem Wert auf Wahrnehmung[link5] angegeben.

Aura: Sollte die Kreatur über eine besondere magische oder außergewöhnliche Aura verfügen, ist sie an dieser Stelle mitsamt der Angabe ihres Radius‘ angegeben und, falls vorhanden, mit ihrem Rettungswurf[link6] SG um den Effekten der Aura zu widerstehen.

RK: Dieser Eintrag gibt die Rüstungsklasse[link7], die Rüstungsklasse[link7] auf Berührung sowie die Rüstungsklasse[link7] auf dem falschen Fuß an. Die Modifikatoren, aus denen sich die RK[link7] zusammensetzt, sind am Ende dieses Eintrages angegeben.

TP: Hier sind die Trefferpunkte einer Kreatur, gefolgt von ihren Trefferwürfeln (einschließlich der Modifikatoren durch Konstitution, Stufen der Bevorzugten Klasse[link2], Kreaturenartmodifikatoren[link8] und dem Talent Abhärtung[link9]) angegeben. Kreaturen mit Spielercharakter-Klassenstufen erhalten die maximalen Trefferpunkte für ihren ersten Trefferwürfel, für jeden weiteren Trefferwürfel jedoch nur den Durchschnittswert. Sofern vorhanden, sind in dieser Zeile noch die Angaben über Schnelle Heilung[link10] und Regeneration[link11] aufgeführt.

Rettungswürfe: Hier sind die Angaben der drei Rettungswürfe[link6] Reflex, Willen und Zähigkeit, mitsamt eventuell vorhandener Situationsmodifikatoren für den Wurf enthalten.

Immunitäten/Resistenzen/SR/Verteidigungsfähigkeiten/ZR: Hier lassen sich die außergewöhnlichen Verteidigungsfähigkeiten einer Kreatur finden: Immunitäten, Resistenzen, Schadensreduzierung[link12] und Zauberresistenz sind, sofern möglich, jeweils einzeln aufgeführt.

Schwächen: Alle außergewöhnlichen Schwächen einer Kreatur sind an dieser Stelle angegeben.

Bewegungsrate: Die Grundbewegungsrate zu Land und, falls vorhanden, weitere Bewegungsarten sind hier zu finden.

Nahkampf: An dieser Stelle sind die Nahkampfangriffe einer Kreatur, mitsamt der Bezeichnung der Angriffe sowie deren Modifikatoren auf den Angriffswurf[link13] angegeben. Darauf folgend wird in Klammern der zugefügte Schaden aufgeführt.

Fernkampf: Wie bei Nahkampf, nur für Fernkampf.

Angriffsfläche/Reichweite: Hier sind die Angriffsfläche und die Reichweite einer Kreatur angegeben. Sollten diese Angaben dem Standard entsprechen (1,50 m; 1,50 m), dann entfällt diese Zeile.
Besondere Angriffe: In dieser Zeile sind die besonderen Angriffe einer Kreatur aufgeführt. Detaillierte Beschreibungen sind am Ende der spieltechnischen Werte oder im Anhang der Allgemeinen Monsterregeln[link14] zu finden.

Zauberähnliche Fähigkeiten: Nach der Angabe der Zauberstufe[link15] der zauberähnlichen Fähigkeiten[link16], sind hier alle zauberähnlichen Fähigkeiten nach der Häufigkeit wie oft diese eingesetzt werden können, aufgelistet. Zauberähnliche Fähigkeiten[link16] die beliebig oft eingesetzt werden können, sind zwar immer anwendbar, können jedoch gebannt werden. Eine Kreatur kann solche beliebig oft einsetzbaren zauberähnlichen Fähigkeiten[link16] durch eine Schnelle Aktion aktivieren.

Bekannte Zauber / Vorbereitete Zauber: Sollte die Kreatur Zauber wirken können, so befindet sich hier ebenfalls eine Angabe zur Zauberstufe[link15], gefolgt von den bekannten Zaubern oder denen, die sie für gewöhnlich vorbereitet hat. Sofern nicht anders angegeben, erhält eine zaubernde Kreatur keine Eigenschaften einer zauberkundigen Klasse[link2] oder deren andere Fähigkeiten, wie beispielsweise die Fähigkeit des Klerikers[link17] spontan vorbereitete Zauber in Heil­oder Schadenszauber umzuwandeln.

Attributswerte: Hier sind die Attribute einer Kreatur aufgeführt. Sofern nicht anders angegeben, repräsentieren die Attribute die Durchschnittswerte dieser Kreatur zuzüglich der Volksmodifikatoren, die sich aus den Ursprungswerten 10 oder 11 zusammensetzen. Kreaturen mit NSC-Klassenstufen[link18] besitzen die Standard-Verteilung (13, 12, 11, 10, 9, 8), während Kreaturen mit SC-Klassenstufen die Elite-Verteilung (15, 14, 12, 11, 10, 8) besitzen; in beiden Fällen sind die Attributsmodifikator[link19] en am Ende der Beschreibung aufgelistet.

GAB / KMB / KMV: Diese drei Werte geben den Grundangriffsbonus[link13] einer Kreatur, ihren Kampfmanöverbonus[link20] und ihre Kampfmanöververteidigung[link21] an.

Talente: Die Talente[link22] einer Kreatur sind hier aufgelistet. Ein Bonustalent ist mit einem hochgestellten „B“ versehen.

Fertigkeiten: Hier sind die Fertigkeiten einer Kreatur aufgelistet. Volksmodifikatoren für Fertigkeiten sind am Ende der Auflistung aufgeführt.

Sprachen: Die häufigsten gesprochenen Sprachen einer Kreatur sind hier aufgeführt. Bei ungewöhnlichen Kreaturen kannst du die angegebene Sprache jederzeit nach belieben ersetzen. Eine Kreatur mit einem höheren Intelligenzwert[link23] als normal, erhält eine entsprechende Anzahl an Bonussprachen.

Besondere Eigenschaften: Jede besondere Eigenschaft einer Kreatur ist hier angegeben.

Umgebung: Die Regionen und klimatischen Umgebungen, in welchen die Kreatur für gewöhnlich angetroffen werden kann, sind hier aufgeführt. Diese Angaben stellen häufig einen viel größeren Bereich dar, als die Symbole zu Beginn der spieltechnischen Werte angeben. In solchen Fällen gelten die Symbole als das bevorzugte Gelände.

Organisation: Dieser Eintrag gibt Auskunft darüber, wie die Kreatur organisiert ist; ebenfalls sind, sofern möglich, Zahlenangaben enthalten.

Schätze: Der genaue Wert der Schätze einer Kreatur hängt davon ab, ob du mit einem langsamen, einem mittleren oder einem schnellen Stufenaufstieg spielst (die dazugehörige Übersicht ist im Grundregelwerk[link24] in der Tabelle: Schatzwerte pro Begegnung[link25] angegeben). In Fällen, in denen die Kreaturen speziell mit magischen Gegenständen[link26] ausgestattet sind, wird von einem mittleren Stufenaufstieg ausgegangen. Solltest du einen langsamen oder gar schnellen Stufenaufstieg spielen, wirst du die Gegenstände anpassen wollen. Die Angabe „Standard“ bedeutet, dass der Wert der Schätze einer Kreatur der durchschnittlichen Gruppenstufe angepasst ist (siehe dazu die Tabelle: Schatzwerte pro Begegnung[link25] im Grundregelwerk[link24]). Angaben wie „Doppelt“ oder „Dreifach“ bedeuten, dass die Kreatur das Doppelte oder Dreifache des Standardwertes besitzt. Die Angabe „Gelegentlich“ sagt aus, dass die Kreatur die Hälfte des Standardwertes besitzt, und dann auch nur in der Sicherheit ihres Unterschlupfes. Die Angabe „Keine“ gibt an, dass die Kreatur für gewöhnlich keine Schätze besitzt (dies ist beispielsweise typisch für unintelligente Kreaturen, die keinen wirklichen Unterschlupf besitzen, obwohl solche Kreaturen häufig für das Hüten von Schätzen[link27] unterschiedlicher Größe gebraucht werden). Die Angabe „NSC-Ausrüstung“ gibt an, dass das Monster die Schätze eines NSC besitzt, dessen Stufe mit der Höhe des HG des Monsters identisch ist (siehe dazu Tabelle: Ausrüstung für NSC[link28] im Grundregelwerk[link24]).

Besondere Fähigkeiten: Zum Schluss sind an dieser Stelle alle eher einzigartigen Fähigkeiten einer Kreatur in vollem Umfang beschrieben.

Beschreibung

Hier findest du Informationen darüber, wie du das Monster in deine Welt einbinden kannst, jeweils versehen mit Anmerkungen zu seinem Lebensraum, Sozialverhalten und anderem nützlichem Wissen, sowie Feinheiten, die dir behilflich sind, die Kreatur zum Leben zu erwecken. Manche Monster besitzen zusätzliche Einträge, die sich mit verschiedenen Monstervarianten dieser Art beschäftigen sowie Ausführungen, wie das Monster als Spielervolk zu gebrauchen ist, Methoden zur Herstellung einer Kreatur und so weiter.
