Einleitung

Die meisten Klassen konzentrieren sich auf den Kampf, manche mit der Klinge, dem Hammer oder anderen Waffen, andere mit Magie der einen oder anderen Art. Ungeachtet der Klasse, welcher ein Charakter angehört, er kann sich an Intrigen und Winkelzügen beteiligen. Manche sind dafür sicherlich besser geeignet als andere, doch mit den richtigen Fertigkeiten und Fähigkeiten kann sich praktisch jeder unter die Ballgäste des Königs mischen oder mit dem Oberhaupt der örtlichen Diebesgilde feilschen. Sollten Intrigen ein Hauptbestandteil der Kampagne sein, so sollte jeder Charakter sich überlegen, ob er nicht ernsthaft in passende Klassenmerkmale oder sogar Klassenstufen investieren sollte, welche Fähigkeiten verleihen, die es ihm ermöglichen, leichter die tückischen Gewässer der Gesellschaft zu durchschiffen.
Die in diesem Kapitel vorgestellten Optionen sollen Charakteren in Form von Klassenmerkmalen einen Vorteil verschaffen, welche direkt jenen helfen, die sich in gefährlichen gesellschaftlichen Situationen wiederfinden. Zwar sind nicht Archetypen für jede existente Klasse enthalten, wohl aber findest du in diesem Band Archetypen für Klassen aus dem Grundregelwerk[link1], den Expertenregeln[link2], den Ausbauregeln VI: Klassen[link3] und den Ausbauregeln VII: Okkultes[link4]. Ferner enthält dieses Kapitel eine neue Klasse, welche auf die hohe Kunst der Intrige spezialisiert ist, ohne gänzlich wehrlos zu sein, sollten die Klingen doch einmal gezogen werden.

Der Vigilant[link5]

Ein berühmter und allseits bekannter Held zu sein, kann sich leider durchaus negativ auf deine Gesundheit, dein Wohlergehen und deine Finanzen auswirken. Wenn du gegen Korruption und das Böse innerhalb der Gesellschaft zu Felde ziehst, wirst du dadurch zu einem Ziel und bringst sogar Freunde und Familie in Gefahr. Wer daher eine gesellschaftliche Identität aufrechterhalten und Teil der Gemeinschaft bleiben will, während er insgeheim die Mächtigen eben dieser Gemeinschaft bekämpft, der muss ein Doppelleben führen. Tagsüber ist der Vigilant ein normaler Angehöriger der Gesellschaft und hat es mit anderen Adeligen oder einf lussreichen Individuen zu tun. Nachts jedoch legt er eine Verkleidung an und verfolgt völlig andere Ziele, indem er den Kampf zu seinen Feinden trägt und dort Probleme mit der Klinge löst, wo Worte nicht mehr ausreichen. Ein Spielleiter sollte sich gut überlegen, ob ein Vigilant in seine Kampagne passt oder nicht. Diese Klasse erfordert ein gewisses Maß an gesellschaftlicher Gewandtheit und Rollenspiel, um ihr Potential voll auszuschöpfen. Kampagnen, deren Schwerpunkt eher auf der Erforschung der Wildnis, dem Reisen oder Vorstößen in Gewölbe liegt, während Politik, Verhandlungen und Intrigen eher nebensächlich sind, könnten vom Spieler eines Vigilanten erhöhte Anstrengungen fordern, damit er seine Klassenmerkmale ausschöpfen kann. Alternativ eignet sich ein Vigilant aber auch bestens als mächtiger Widersacher, der sich tagsüber hinter einer Maske ziviler Höflichkeit verbirgt und nachts dagegen furchtbare Taten vollbringt, ohne eine Entdeckung zu riskieren..
Für Spieler stellt der Vigilant eine einzigartige Möglichkeit dar, die Rolle eines Charakters mit einer verborgenen Seite zu übernehmen, der sein Leben geheimen Zielen widmet, welche er in einer komplexen Welt verfolgt. Nicht jedes Problem kann im Dunkeln und mit einem Messer in den Rücken gelöst werden. Selbst der sturste Gegner könnte dank der richtigen Bestechungssumme und –mittel zu einem Verbündeten werden. Für einen Vigilanten ist aber beides möglich, solange er seine verborgenen Fertigkeiten und seine beiden Identitäten vorteilbringend nutzt.

Archetypen[link6]

An die Klasse des Vigilanten schließt sich eine Reihe von Archetypen und alternative Klassenmerkmalen für eine breite Vielfalt von Klassen an. In dem Abschnitt findest du nach Klassen sortiert Archetypen für Alchemisten, Barden, Draufgänger, Druiden, Ermittler, Mesmeristen, Schurken, Skalden, Spiritisten, Ritter und Waldläufer. Hinzu kommt eine Reihe von Archetypen für den Vigilanten, um die verschiedensten Ausprägungen dieser Rolle spielen zu können, seien es hünenhafte Schläger oder mystische Gelehrte. Antipaladine, Attentäter, Jäger, Kleriker, Mönche, Okkultisten, Paktmagier, Paladine und Schützen erhalten am Ende des Kapitels jeweils einen oder zwei Archetypen. Dort findest du auch das neue Mysterium der Intrige und für Kinetiker thematisch passende Wilde Mehrzweckgaben jedes Elements. Wenn ein Charakter Stufen in einer Klasse wählt, muss er sich entscheiden, ob er bei den Standard-Klassenmerkmalen bleibt oder einen (oder mehrere) Archetypen wählt. Jeder Archetyp ersetzt oder modifiziert bestimmte Klassenmerkmale der mit ihm assoziierten Klasse. Die Wahl zwischen Standardklasse und Archetyp muss aber erst getroffen werden, wenn ein Archetyp sich erstmals ersetzend oder modifizierend auf ein Klassenmerkmal auswirkt.
Sollte ein Archetyp mehrere Klassenmerkmale umfassen, so muss ein Charakter alle davon übernehmen. Er kann sich nicht entscheiden, dem Archetypen nur ein paar Stufen lang zu folgen und dann auf einen anderen oder zurück auf die Standardklasse umzuschwenken, außer derartiges wird ausdrücklich vom gewählten Archetypen erlaubt. Alle Klassenmerkmale der Basisklasse, welche im Rahmen des Archetypen nicht angesprochen werden, bleiben unverändert, sodass der Charakter sie mit der entsprechenden Stufe erhält, sofern nicht anders vermerkt. Ein Charakter mit einem alternativen Klassenmerkmal erhält nicht das ersetzte Klassenmerkmal und kann daher auch keine Voraussetzungen erfüllen, die dieses ersetzte Merkmal verlangen. Ein Charakter kann mehr als einen Archetypen wählen und so zusätzliche alternative Klassenmerkmale erhalten, sofern die Klassenmerkmale der Basisklasse nur jeweils ein Mal ersetzt oder modifiziert werden – sollte ein Charakter z.B. zwei Archetypen wählen wollen, welche beide dasselbe Klassen berühren (d.h. ersetzen oder modifizieren), so ist ihm dies nicht möglich.
Sollte ein Archetyp ein Klassenmerkmal ersetzen, welches Teil einer Reihe von Verbesserungen oder Zusätzen einer Basisfähigkeit ist (z.B. das Waffentraining[link7] des Kämpfers oder die Reflexbewegung[link8] des Schurken), so erhält der Charakter die ersetzte Fähigkeit, wenn er die nächste Verbesserung der Fähigkeit erlangt; im Grund wird die Progression dieser Fähigkeit verzögert.
Beispiel: Ein Archetyp ersetzt beim Schurken die +1W6 Punkte an Hinterhältigen Bonusschaden, den er mit der 3. Stufe erlangt. Der Schurke erhält diesen Anstieg dann mit der 5. Stufe, sodass er mit der 5. Stufe +2W6 Punkte Hinterhältigen Schaden verursachen würde (statt +3W6). Dies wirkt sich natürlich auf weitere Verbesserungen des Hinterhältigen Schadens aus, sodass der Schurke mit der 19. Stufe +9W6 Hinterhältigen Schaden verursachen würde (im Gegensatz zum Standard-Schurken, der +10W6 Hinterhältigen Schaden verursachen würde).


Archetypen für weitere Klassen[link9]

Barden, Schurken und einige ähnliche Klassen besitzen von Natur aus eine Begabung für Tricks und Täuschung, während andere Klassen sich an derartiges erst gewöhnen müssen oder sich niemals wirklich damit anfreunden können. Dennoch verfügt jede Klasse über Fähigkeiten und Fertigkeiten, die es ihr erlaubt, der Welt der Intrige Einzigartiges anzubieten. Dies repräsentieren die folgenden Archetypen. Jeder hilft dabei, einen Charakter zu erschaffen, welcher bestens in eine auf Intrigen basierende Kampagne passt, selbst wenn die Klasse normalerweise eine eher ungewöhnliche Wahl wäre. Der folgende Abschnitt enthält Archetypen für weitere neun Klassen, dazu Wilde Gaben für Kinetiker und ein Mystiker-Mysterium.
