Inhalt



Manche Völker sind so selten, dass bereits ihre bloße Existenz mehrere Streitgespräche entfachte. Diese Völker leben an den Rändern der Wildnis, in verborgenen Grotten tief unter der Erde, unter den Wellen des Meeres oder zwischen den Wolken des Nachthimmels und nur wenige ihrer Angehörigen vernehmen den Ruf des Abenteuers.

Die 14 Völker, welche in diesem Kapitel vorgestellt werden, eignen sich alle für Spielercharaktere, doch sind sie aufgrund ihrer Seltenheit oder Isolation etwas Besonderes. Jeder von ihnen ist exotisch und die Gründe dafür sind ebenso vielfältig wie ihr Äußeres. Wechselbälger sind als Abkömmlinge von Vetteln und sterblichen Liebhabern ein seltenes Spielercharaktervolk – da eine derart finstere Vereinigung überaus unwahrscheinlich ist. Andere Völker wie die Kitsunen, Nagajis, Samsarer und Wayange trifft man eher in fernen Ländern an, während z.B. Kiemenmenschen, Gripplis, Angehörige des Meervolkes, Strigae und Svirfneblin Fremden meist misstrauisch gegenübertreten und in ihren abgelegenen sowie abgeschotteten Gemeinschaften verbleiben.

Obwohl diese Völker selten sind, kann man dasselbe auch von jedem behaupten, der den Pfad des Abenteurers einschlägt. Derartige Aktivitäten sind nichts für diejenigen, die ein normales Leben führen wollen. Diesem Beispiel folgend entspringen jenen Völkern ebenso Freigeister, die danach dürsten, an die wilden Orte der Welt vorzustoßen, stets auf der Suche nach Aufregung und Entdeckungen. Mit der Erlaubnis deines SL kannst du jedes der folgenden, seltenen Völker für deinen Spielercharakter auswählen. Jeder Eintrag liefert alle Informationen, die du brauchst, um einen Charakter dieses Volkes zu erschaffen. Dazu kommen einige neue Optionen für Charaktere dieses Volkes.

Dieses Kapitel befasst sich mit den folgenden seltenen Völkern:

Duergar:[link1] Diese grauhäutigen, in der Tiefe der Erde lebenden Zwerge[link2] hassen ihre hellhäutigeren Verwandten. Duergar betrachten das Leben als endlose Plackerei, die nur im Tode endet. Obwohl Duergar in der Regel böse sind, gibt es für sie nichts Wichtigeres, als ein Versprechen zu halten. Ab und zu dienen sie Abenteurern als loyale Begleiter.

Gripplis[link3] Diese verstohlenen Froschgeschöpfe besitzen die Fähigkeit, sich in Sümpfen[link4] und Mooren zu tarnen. Gripplis bleiben meist in ihren feuchten Heimatländern und interagieren nur selten mit der Außenwelt. Wenn sie ihre sumpfige Umgebung verlassen sollten, dann geschieht dies meist nur, um mit Metallen und Edelsteinen Handel zu betreiben.

Kiemenmenschen:[link5] Diese Überlebenden einer ursprünglich auf dem Land angesiedelten Kultur, deren Heimat zerstört wurde, wurden von den Abolethen[link6] gerettet und in ein amphibisches Volk verwandelt. Obwohl sie fast wie Menschen[link7] aussehen, bilden ihre purpurnen Augen und Kiemen den großen Unterschied. Kiemenmenschen sind zurückgezogen und misstrauisch. Sie wissen, dass die Abolethen[link6] einst die Schuld einfordern werden, die sie noch offen haben.

Kitsunen:[link8] Diese gestaltwandelnden, fuchsartigen Wesen lieben Kunst, die angenehmeren Dinge des Lebens und spielen gerne Streiche. Sie können als Menschen[link7] auftreten sowie in ihrer wahren Gestalt als fuchsartige Humanoide. Kitsune sind behände, gesellig und haben eine schnelle Auffassungsgabe, so dass viele von ihnen Abenteurer werden.

Angehörige des Meervolkes:[link9] Diese Kreaturen besitzen den Oberkörper eines gutgebauten, attraktiven Humanoiden, haben aber unterhalb der Hüfte einen Fischschwanz mit einer Flosse. Sie sind amphibisch und sehr kräftige Schwimmer, aufgrund ihrer Unterleiber aber für ein Leben an Land nicht wirklich geschaffen. Angehörige des Meervolkes sind oft schüchtern und zurückgezogen. Meist bleiben sie unter sich und misstrauen Landbewohnern.

Nagaji:[link10] Man glaubt, dass die Nagas[link11] dieses Volk als Diener erschaffen habe und die Nagaji ihre Erschaffer als lebende Götter verehren. Aufgrund ihres reptilischen Wesens und ihrer seltsamen Verhaltensweisen rufen diese merkwürdigen, geschuppten Leute Furcht und Verwunderung bei anderen hervor. Sie sind resistent gegenüber Gift[link12] und geistesbeeinflussender Magie.

Samsarer:[link13] Dieser geisterhaften Diener des Karmas sind Kreaturen, welche in der Hoffnung auf wahre Erleuchtung hunderte, wenn nicht gar tausende von Malen wiedergeboren werden. Im Gegensatz zu Menschen[link7] und anderen Völkern erinnern sich diese Humanoiden größtenteils an ihre früheren Leben.

Strigae:[link14] Diese schwarzhäutigen Herren des Nachthimmels wurden von den Menschen[link7], welche sie als geflügelte Teufel betrachten, fast ausgerottet. Ihre Territorialkonflikte fachen ihren Hass auf die Menschen[link7] zusätzlich an. Aufgrund dieser ewigen Fehde greifen diese nachtaktiven Kreaturen Menschen[link7] oft an, sobald sie jene sehen.

Sulis:[link15] Diese auch als Suli-Dschani bezeichneten Humanoiden sind die Nachfahren von Dschani[link16] und Sterblichen. Diese starken, charismatischen Individuen erlangen als Jugendliche Meisterschaft über elementare Kräfte und können Elektrizität, Erde, Feuer oder Eis manipulieren, was sich oft auch in ihren Persönlichkeiten wiederspiegelt.

Svirfneblin:[link17] Diese Gnome[link18], welche ihre verborgenen Enklaven in den dunklen Tunneln und Höhlen tief unter der Erde bewachen, sind in gleichem Maße ernsthaft wie ihre an der Oberfläche lebenden Verwandten launenhaft sind. Svirfneblin sind resistent gegenüber der Magie jener finsteren Kreaturen, die ebenfalls unter der Erde leben, und nutzen machtvolle Schutzmagie. Svirfneblin misstrauen Fremden und verstecken sich oft, wenn sich diese nähern.

Vanaras:[link19] Diese Streiche spielenden, affenartigen Humanoiden hausen in Dschungeln sowie warmen Wäldern[link20]. Sie haben ein weiches Fell und Greifschwänze. Durch ihre handartigen Füße sind Vanaras sehr gute Kletterer und sowohl am Boden als auch in Baumwipfeln heimisch.

Vischkanyas:[link21] Vischkanyas sind äußerlich von seltsamer Schönheit – aber giftig in ihrem Innersten. Sie sehen die Welt durch schlangenartige Augen, besitzen ebenfalls die Eleganz eines derartigen Tieres[link22] und können sich mit Leichtigkeit aus dem Griff eines Feindes winden. Vischkanyas stehen im Ruf, verführerische Manipulatoren zu sein. Sie können mit ihrem Speichel oder ihrem Blut ihre Waffen vergiften.

Wayange:[link23] Die kleinen Wayange sind Kreaturen der Schattenebene. Ihr Leben ist derart mit den Schatten verwoben, dass sie sogar ihre Lebenseinstellung danach richten – sie glauben, im Tode mit der Dunkelheit[link24] zu verschmelzen. Die Geheimnisse ihrer schattenhaften Existenz verleihen ihnen die Gabe, sich aus positiver und negativer Energie gleichermaßen heilen zu können.

Wechselbälger:[link25] Als Nachkommen von Vetteln und ihren sterblichen Liebhabern werden sie von ihren Muttern ausgesetzt und von Zieheltern großgezogen. Wechselbälger sind stets weiblich und vernehmen während der Pubertät einen spirituellen Ruf, der sie dazu drängt ihre wahre Abstammung zu entdecken. Wechselbälger sind hochgewachsen und schlank. Mit ihren dunklen Haaren und ungleichfarbenen Augen sind sie auf unheimliche Weise attraktiv.

Allgemeine Beschreibung

Der Eintrag zu jedem Volk beginnt mit einer kurzen, allgemeinen Beschreibung des Volkes. Dieser folgen spezifische Einträge zum Äußeren, der Gesellschaft, den Beziehungen zu anderen Völkern, der Gesinnung[link26], der Religion und allgemeinen Gründen für Angehörige dieses Volkes, auf Abenteuersuche zu gehen. Eine Beschreibung liefert genug Informationen, um einen zusammenhängenden Hintergrund und eine Persönlichkeit für einen Charakter aus diesem Volk zu erstellen.


Volksmerkmale

Der Eintrag zu jedem Volk enthält auch einen Kasten mit den gewöhnlichen Volkmerkmalen dieses Volkes. Dazu gehören die Kreaturenart, die Größe, Sinneswahrnehmung, Bewegungsrate und einige andere Merkmale, die den meisten Angehörigen dieses Volkes gemein sind. Mit Erlaubnis deines SL kannst du auch von der Option Gebrauch machen, diese Standard-Volksmerkmale gegen entsprechende alternative Volksmerkmale auszutauschen - ziehe hierfür den nächsten Abschnitt zu Rate.


Alternative Volksmerkmale

Angehörige jedes Volkes können Standard-Volksmerkmale gegen die in diesem Abschnitt aufgeführten alternativen Volksmerkmale austauschen. Jedes dieser alternativen Volksmerkmale führt auf, welches Standardmerkmal es ersetzt. Die vollständigen Regeln für den Austausch von Merkmalen befinden sich im Kapitel Grundvölker[link27].


Optionen zur Bevorzugte Klassen

Jedes Volk kann aus den aufgeführten, bevorzugten Klassenoptionen wählen, anstatt sich für einer der üblichen Belohnungen bei der Wahl einer Stufe in der bevorzugten Klasse[link28] (+1 TP oder +1 Fertigkeitsrang) zu entscheiden. Die vollständigen Regeln für bevorzugte Klassenoptionen sind im Kapitel Grundvölker[link27].


Volksarchetypen

Dieser Abschnitt stellt pro Volk einen Archetypen vor. In der Regel können nur Angehörige des jeweiligen Volkes den aufgeführten Archetypen auswählen. Ein solcher Archetyp besitzt in der Regel eine thematische Verbindung zu dem Volk und verleiht ihm Klassenmerkmale, welche zu den Fähigkeiten und dem Hintergrund des Volkes passen. Da Abenteurer meist nicht der gesellschaftlichen Norm entsprechen, stellen diese Archetypen zuweilen Ausnahmen dar, hinsichtlich der Tendenzen eines Volkes. Mit Erlaubnis des SL kann ein Angehöriger eines anderen Volkes die meisten dieser Archetypen auswählen, wenn sie entweder zum Konzept des Charakters passen oder der Charakter von einem Angehörigen eines Volkes ausgebildet wurde, welches den Archetypen auswählen kann. Solche Ausnahmen sollten allerdings bei den vor liegenden Archetypen eher selten vorkommen, da diese Völker in den meisten Kampagnen schon bereits rar sind. Die folgende Aufzählung präsentiert alle Archetypen in diesem Kapitel nach Völkern, die jeweiligen Klassen[link28] sind in Klammern aufgeführt.

Duergar: Grauer Jünger[link29] (Mönch[link30])

Gripplis: Sumpfalchemist[link31] (Alchemist[link32])

Kiemenmenschen: Mystischer Ruinenräuber[link33] (Schurke[link34])

Neue Volksregeln

Der letzte Abschnitt jedes Volks-Eintrages enthält neue sowie weitere Regeln für dieses Volk und wird in folgende Kategorien unterteilt (nicht jedes Volk hat Einträge für alle diese Kategorien):

Ausrüstung: Der Ausrüstungsabschnitt enthält neue Regeln für gewöhnliche und alchemistische Ausrüstungsgestände, die dem Volk zur Verfügung stehen. Solche Gegenstände sind oft auf dem offenen Markt erhältlich, so dass auch Angehörige anderer Völker sie erwerben können. Oft – besonders im Falle alchemistischer Ausrüstungsgegenstände – haben diese Gegenstände bei Angehörigen anderer Völker aber keine, schwächere oder sogar entgegengesetzte Effekte.

Talente: Dieser Abschnitt enthält neue Talente für Angehörige dieses Volkes. Diese Talente beziehen sich oft auf besondere Eigenarten und Eigenschaften des Volkes und erweitern oder stärken in vielen Fällen Volksmerkmale des jeweiligen Volkes. Alle diese Talente benennen das entsprechende Volk als Voraussetzung, so dass Angehörige anderer Völker sie nicht auswählen können.

Magische Gegenstände: In diesem Abschnitt aufgeführte magische Gegenstände werden fast ausschließlich von Angehörigen dieses Volkes hergestellt und benutzt. Manchen wohnen Effekte inne, die mit den Volksmerkmalen des betreffenden Volkes interagieren, während andere breitere Einsatzmöglichkeiten besitzen und von Angehörigen anderer Völker benutzt werden können.

Zauber: Die Zauber in diesem Abschnitt sind unter zauberkundigen Angehörigen dieses Volkes verbreitet. Manchmal sind nur Angehörige dieses Volkes legale Ziele, meist handelt es sich aber auch „nur“ um gutgehütete Geheimnisse des jeweiligen Volkes, welche Angehörige anderer Völker mit Genehmigung des SL erlernen können.
